Description
ArtyMaths is a hands-on approach that makes maths accessible to all children through art. It replaces working on paper with problems that are physically constructed and can be physically solved. At the same time, while pupils are consolidating their mathematical knowledge and having fun, they are creating eye-catching displays that serve as physical reminders of the mental processes that were involved.
Featuring 12 lessons, ArtyMaths can be taught as half-day workshops and is particularly good for improving children’s estimation skills and sense of proportion.
Learning is reinforced by activity sheets for the children and extension activities for the more able. Each lesson also has a pupil’s evaluation sheet, which will help you to assess how well they have understood the lesson.
The resource is accompanied by photographic examples of all the displays that the pupils will make during their ArtyMaths workshops.
